This is the newest in the group of Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities built and managed by the Bristal Assisted Living organization. The Bristal’s locations are all built as first-class buildings with elegant surrounding and top-quality care. Known for their cuisine, this new location in Mt. Sinai provides top restaurant style meals three times each day. When I toured, residents were preparing for dinner by having a glass of wine while being entertained by a great duo performing 50s and 60s hits.
The Bristal Mt. Sinai has a secure section of the building devoted to the special needs of seniors with dementia due to Alzheimer’s and other disfunctions of the central nervous system. What is unique about the Bristal is that each of these sections for people with cognitive difficulties is a mirror image of the larger area set aside for Assisted Living. They all have a cinema, a hair salon, full activity areas, a craft shop, and a special outdoor space just for these residents. At the Bristal, both residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care get the same services, each delivered in a way appropriate for that group.
This Bristal has also earned an Enhanced license for Assisted Living, the highest level of licensure offered by New York State. This higher level of licensure gives seniors a greater chance of Aging in Place at this Community.
